Heart Of Culture

GRAÉ is a design and prototyping center facility that provides services to designers, design students and professionals with tools to enhance and develop their design skills, share knowledge and build of creative thinkers. The building consists a large scale materials library, book source library, workshops, communal spaces and educational classrooms. It is a center that offers its services either on a walk-in basis or by membership; it allows its members to manufacture their designs from sketch and research phase to the prototype and final product.

The concept and design was developed during my senior year at the American University in Dubai, the project won 3rd place at the Interior Design Senior Showcase 2018.

Studio Meshary AlNassar was commissioned by ASCC (Abdullah AlSalem Cultural Center) to work on the interiors of a historic property in Venice, Italy, named Scoletta De Arte. The studio was approached by Amiri Diwan to represent the culture and arts of Kuwait during the Venice Biennale. The Heart of Culture project aimed to promote ASCC and the artist in residency program that showcases local artists and creatives to build a connection between the two cultures. Studio Meshary AlNassar was able to prepare the historical building to host such an exhibition as well as create a fabric installation that aims to show the parallels between woven and printed fabrics in both Italian and Kuwaiti cultures. The space was transformed within limited time restrictions and with collaborations from Italian vendors and architects. The graphics seen in the show were made by Formation Studio in Kuwait.
